The King Range National Conservation Area encompasses ~68,000 acres of wilderness with a rugged remote 35 mile stretch of pristine coastline known as The Lost Coast. This area is a spectacular gem of Northern California. Enjoy hiking along the gamut of black sand beaches that are only interrupted by the cool fresh water creeks which cascade down from the towering King Range mountains above. This trip is a must for any ocean lover! We will be immersed in the natural beauty of this wild area while learning about the ecosystem and taking the time to tune in and enjoy daily yoga and meditation sessions in this special place.
Home to the worlds tallest trees nestled in a stunning landscapes of prairies, rugged coastlines and wild meandering creeks and rivers, Redwood National Park is a treasure to behold. This park is vast and varied, as such our retreats occur in a few different locations in this magical place. The Gold Bluffs Beach trip is a moderately challenging ~13 mile loop hike through the Redwoods to an established campground on the beach where elk are frequently seen. On this trip we will also hike through the legendary Fern Canyon and experience the mists and lore of these steep green canyon walls. The Redwood Creek trip will be a breezy ~3 mile hike centered around visiting some of the parks tallest Redwood trees and camping on the tranquil gravel bar of Redwood Creek. Any nature lover will find both of these trips a must do!
Nestled in the remote reaches of the Klamath Mountains in Northern California the Trinity Alps Wilderness comprises over 500,000 acres. This vast wilderness area is best known for its sweeping granite peaks and gem like high alpine lakes. The rugged landscape was sculpted by time and the mighty glaciers that once roamed these mountains. The Trinity Alps are home to the lowest altitude and western most remains of glacier ice in all of California. These glaciers persist ~1,700ft below all other glaciers in the state! Enjoy a moderately challenging hike to a beautiful lake base camp.
In Southern Arizona nestled in the eastern portion of the Sonoran Desert runs the Santa Catalina Mountains. This is a rugged range with strikingly steep slops and deep canyons. Due to the stark difference in elevation from it's highest peak of 9,171 ft, to 2,800 ft at the base these mountains are home to a rich diversity of plants and animals. This retreat will be taking place within the 5,500 acres of area set aside for wilderness and recreation in the breath taking Catalina State Park of Tucson. Hiking further into these mountains we enter some of the beautiful granite peaks of Coronado National Forest.
